2. fast weight loss, despite the constant feeling of hunger;

3. high levels of sugar in the blood;

4. a feeling of weakness or fatigue;

15. calf muscle cramps.

In the beginning of type I diabetes mellitus is characterized by rapid deterioration of condition and dehydration organism. Such patients need urgent insulin. Without treatment, a violation of all kinds of metabolism may lead to life-threatening condition – diabetic coma. The reason for the lack of insulin in the blood, the difficulty of penetration of glucose into the cell and energy shortages. The body begins to use the energy reserves located in the fat depot. Since this process occurs too rapidly, the number of fat goes into the blood. Part of it, passing through the liver, converted into ketone bodies, which enter the blood and have a toxic effect on the body. Developed a serious condition which must be urgently treated.

In order to establish the diagnosis of diabetes, you must define two indicators:

1) The level of sugar in the blood.

2) The level of sugar in the urine.

Increasing fasting blood sugar level over 120 mg% indicates the development of diabetic patients. Normally, the sugar in the urine is not determined, since the renal filter retains all the glucose. And when blood sugar levels more than 160-180 mg% (8,8-9,9 mmol / l) renal filter starts to skip the sugar in the urine. Therefore, in the urine output is more or less significant amount of glucose. Glucose in the urine can be measured with special test – the stripes. The minimum level of sugar in the blood, which it begins to be detected in urine, is called “renal threshold”.

To obtain accurate results, is recommend conducting the following tests:

1) On an empty stomach to determine the level of sugar in the blood.

2) Drink 75 gr. of grape sugar, diluted in 300 ml boiled water.

3) After 60 minutes to determine the level of sugar in the blood.

4) After 120 minutes to determine the level of sugar in the blood.

The test is considered negative, which does not confirm a diagnosis of diabetes if the blood taken on an empty stomach, blood sugar – below 120 mg% and in blood taken after 120 minutes – less than 140%.

If the first measurement of sugar level above 120 mg%, and the measurement after 2 hours is higher than 200 mg (11.1 mmol / l), this result confirms the presence of diabetes mellitus patients.
